get your glow on with hydrafacial

Note: the HydraFacial treatment was offered to me as a courtesy, but my review and thoughts are completely my own.

Recently, I had the pleasure of experiencing HydraFacial, a skin health treatment that uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate, leaving the skin fresh and glowy. I experienced my treatment at BayPointe Dermatology here in Miami, and the team there had so much great information to share about skincare, the HydraFacial procedure, and how to get into a regimen of monthly HydraFacial treatments to keep pores clean.

I am always exploring new ways to keep my skin clean, get a little extra glow, fight aging, and indulge in a little self-care. Lately, I felt like my skin texture was looking rather dull, so I was on the hunt for a procedure that was non-invasive but also pampering. After a little research, I realized HydraFacial was exactly what I needed.

First, the machine is quite a setup! With four canisters of beauty goop designed to bring out the best in your face, the first step is cleansing. This isn’t traditional cleansing – this is with the HydraFacial wand, which is like a little vacuum hose circulating across your face to get the blood flowing. it isn’t uncomfortable at all – in fact, it’s soothing. we’re off to a great start!

Next, it’s time for exfoliation to help open the pores, so all the pollution, makeup, sunscreen, and other debris can get cleared out and into your gunkie canister (more on that later!).

Following the exfoliation, it’s time for extractions. What you might not have known, is the HydraFacial extractions are done by the machine. Whoa. So the vacuum you’ve been using so far has a higher pressure to really power out the gunk from your pores and leave you with skin that’s on the road to recovery.

That, my friends, is an actual representation of the gunk that was removed!

Last, the soothing and hydrating delivery of vitamins that helps your skin bounce back from the facial, followed by a healing mask to help calm redness and irritation. I have incredibly sensitive skin, so the slightest thing gives me redness, so this was a great part to wrap up the treatment and get my glow in gear (after all, I was heading to work after this!). Another thing to note is that the entire treatment is icy cool, and it works with cold air to stimulate skin, rather than traditional facials that steam open your pores.

Immediately exiting the spa I was a little red, but it quickly calmed down. Either way, above is a photo of the immediate aftermath, fresh faced!

When I got to the office, I couldn’t stop talking about the treatment, and colleagues kept asking me what was with my glow! I know the HydraFacial FAQs say you can put on makeup right away, but I tried to give my skin a few bare hours to absorb the products completely before putting makeup on again (it also felt counter-intuitive as I had just had makeup taken out of my pores?). Regardless, I was prepping my skin for something much bigger in the days that lie ahead!

My skin, up close & personal 3 days later

I definitely recommend HydraFacial to anyone looking for a way to deep clean and pamper their skin. In Miami, the climate can be way harsh on our delicate faces, so a monthly HydraFacial is a great way to show your skin a little TLC. Fun Fact: I had my HydraFacial a few days before a filming project, and I was nervous of any after effects (we all know sometimes facials can lead to breakouts as they rustle up some resting bacteria), but I am happy to say my skin was glowy and smooth for my big moment!

  1. Love it, you look great. I’ll have to try it.

  2. Your skin looks so wonderful, I never tried a hydra facial before but will think about it when lockdown is over.
