This past weekend I was invited to head up to the International Polo Club in Wellington, FL for the final match of the Nespresso 108th U.S Open Polo Championship. We had such a great afternoon and a delicious brunch (crepe and omelet stations, check!) and indulged in bottomless Veuve. The weather was breezy and enjoyable, the horses were beautiful and the afternoon in itself was just perfect. I hope to make it up to Wellington again and partake in the divot stomp–which sadly, I missed this past time around!
We had a great view of Piaget Field from our table, and I was seated next to a familiar face– Miss America 2012, Laura Kaeppeler. She was so sweet to chat with and it was a nice surprise to share part of the afternoon with her. I got to learn a little more about her initiatives as Miss America, and her specific passion help children who have parents in prison. The cause hits close to home because her own father was in prison, and she recognizes the need for a support system for children in those circumstances.
Dressing for the occasion was so fun, and I finally decided on this preppy floral dress and a classic cloche to shield my face from the sun. Zacara was victorious over Lechuza Caracas and there was a party after the match to celebrate, complete with a Carnival style parade.
Monday was a tough one…but it was well worth the revelry on Sunday afternoon! Thanks to Ria Michelle for sending me the photo with Laura (Miss America).
