Summertime is all about beach days, big hats, and days filled with laughter. I’ve been smiling bigger and laughing more, thanks to my summer adventure with Invisalign. While it’s no secret that I’ve been undergoing Invisalign treatment the past few months, having a straight smile is only one way to become happier.
There are many things to be grateful for, and to be happy about in our daily lives. Sometimes, when we get stressed out, we forget how lucky we are. Some of my tips for being a happier and stress-free person are as follows:
Take time for yourself. Days can be chaotic, and it might seem like people are wanting things from you all the time. Between meeting the needs of friends, family, significant others, and our jobs, each day can be pretty draining on us. It is important to dedicate at least an hour to yourself every day, doing something that you love and without disruption.
Don’t sweat the small stuff- but break a sweat! Exercise is not always something that we want to do, especially when there is a lot of pending content in our Netflix queue. Getting exercise can be easier than you think, and it doesn’t have to be a high intensity workout. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park your car farther away so you have to walk a little more, and go for a swim to beat the heat and burn some calories. Find what you enjoy, and do that!
Be grateful. Instead of focusing so much on what you want, reflect on what you have. You probably are more lucky than you even realize. Being in a state of awareness at your fortunes will make you less caught up and worried about your perceived misfortunes.
Smile more. Call it a placebo effect if you want, but its hard to be down when you’ve got a big, goofy grin on your face. Listen to jokes from friends, ask about their day, laugh at silly encounters and before you know it, smiling will be an automatic action. Don’t love your smile? That’s ok. A perfect smile is waiting for you.
