Like most people, I’ve got a closet full of clothes yet still seem to follow the 20/80 rule. Never heard of it? It’s where you wear 20 percent of your clothing 80 percent of the time. It’s how you know what you gravitate towards–colors, prints, dresses, jeans, etc. This little striped top quickly became part of my 20 percent. While initially I wasn’t going anywhere with this it totally makes sense, as a person who documents several of my outfit selections each week, that I should
probably definitely mix it up a bit. I should probably also stop buying blue clothing. And striped clothing. And blue striped clothing.
I read an interesting article that tries to get clothes hounds like myself to delve a little deeper and start wearing some items from the 80 percent–you may find a piece you love and forgot you had, or you might clear some of the clutter off of your racks. Either way, it’s an easy little project and it will encourage you to shop within your own closet. You should have a closet filled with items you ADORE, not just ho-hum items that keep you from leaving the house au naturale. I am challenging all of you to delve into the 80 percent–and I will be doing it, too! I’m going to start off trying to go 2 weeks without repeating clothing (sunnies don’t count)–wish me luck!
