denim on denim pt 2

A few weeks ago, I posted about denim on denim in the form of a distressed denim vest and white jeans. Today, however, I’m mixing it up with this chambray (denim) shirt and printed cropped skinny jeans. All of these pieces have been on the blog before, except for the shoes! I decided to wear these adorable new heels that are way too comfortable to even be real–highly recommended and they come in a variety of colors. Scoop them up while you can!

sleeveless tribal // coral scuba

Happy Friday, everyone! Here in South FL we’ve had bits of rain, but as I type this the sun is shining and it is sweltering! It’s been a long, interesting week for me, I’m definitely ready to hit the snooze button and get some rest over the next few days. In the meantime, I am having a ball getting dressed these days and pairing existing items in my closet with new finds and ideas. This skirt is a perfect day to night item, I’ve worn it both ways, and so is this top… and the bag (which converts into a clutch!) and the shoes. Lol. Talk about pieces that really go the distance! I know I keep saying this, but skirts and light pieces like this are so crucial to surviving summer without becoming a sweaty blob. Case in point- me, yesterday (unphotographed of course), in a long sleeve tissue paper thin t-shirt and light cotton maxi skirt sweating bullets within 1 minute of standing outdoors. Not cute. Light fabrics can be so deceiving sometimes.

I’ve had a roller coaster week coming off of the holiday break with a monster sinus headache, the efforts of taking up spinning again, and managing various disasters like 1) internet outages 2) power outages and 3) a dog vomiting up mangoes (the pitfall of a huge mango tree in the yard). I can honestly say I’ve tried to handle each mini-crisis with a calm demeanor, thanks in part to this amazing and inspiring book I am reading about keeping it together when you want to fly off the walls. Or scream at someone, hehe. In case you’d like to check it out it’s on sale for $5 right now. Namaste and happy weekend, everyone!

love is in the air

Happy hump day! With half the week behind us, I am in high spirits and ready for the weekend. This is totally a weekend outfit that I weaseled into work today wearing, despite sporadic rain showers and a pending tropical storm.

For me, I can’t get enough of stripes. And I wear shorts on the regular, and you already know my thoughts on wedges. So in a nutshell, this outfit is TOTALLY me! The Kate Spade bag ties it all together and is the perfect bag for hauling all of my office needs. I envision it will be just as perfect as a flight carry on and much more. 😉

black blouse // floral skirt

This floral skirt has been one of the wisest $9.80 I have ever spent- it is such an easy go-to piece. Now if I could only find it in solid colors that are easier to wear more frequently! This floral one paired with a luxe cotton-jersey black blouse and colored wedges was an easy choice for work today. Wedges are such an essential down here, whether you are walking down Las Olas or Lincoln, on the beach or on the docks, wedges will see you through and give you a little height boost. For me, sandals and wedges are the ideal work shoes during summer. I know it’s not acceptable in all offices, but in South Florida it’s so HOT I think everyone is kind of accepting. Better than flip flops or slippers, right?!
